Someshwara Temple is an antique Hindu Temple in Kolar, Karnataka, India. It is devoted to lord Shiva and the Vijayanagara kings constructed it sometime in the 14 th century. The temple is well known because of the beautiful stone carvings and the architecture resembling Dravidian style. It contains a high gopuram (tower) over the entrance and a big courtyard in the inside.

The temple, which is approximately 68 kilometers away form Bengaluru, spreads over a surrounding of about 2 acres. The central sanctum contains Shiva Linga, which is assumed to be more than 700 years old. Other gods such as Ganesha and Parvati have smaller shrines in the temple. The walls have carvings which depict tales of Hindu mythology.
annually, thousands of pilgrims attend it, particularly on Maha Shivaratri. timings of the temple are 6 AM to 12 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM every day. By 1910, it was bounded as a safeguarded monument by the Archeological Survey of India. The temple rises to about 100 feet and the main hall contains 48 pillars. It is still a significant cultural and religious location of Karnataka.
