How To Reach the Lalbaugcha Raja
To reach Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, here are the most practical transportation options based on available information. The pandal is located at Lalbaug Market, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, Lalbaug, Mumbai 400012.
By Train (Mumbai Local)
- Since Lalbaugcha Raja is located right in the heart of the city, local trains on the Mumbai network are the most convenient way to go. Your choice of queue will determine which stations are the nearest.
- For Mukh Darshan (viewing the idol from a distance):
- The Central Line has the Eastern Express Highway passing Byculla and Chinchpokli stations. From either station, take a short taxi or auto-rickshaw ride (5-10 minutes) to the pandal.
- Alternatively, Cotton Green station on the Harbour Line or Rani Baug (near Byculla Zoo) on the Central Line are viable options. If you get off at any station, you can either take a walk or use an auto-rickshaw.
- For Navsachi Darshan (Charan Sparsh, touching the idol’s feet):
If you take the Western Line, Lower Parel station is recommended and for the Central Line, Curry Road station is suggested. Taxi or auto-rickshaws are available at these stations to drop you off at the pandal in 5 to 10 minutes.
From Major Hubs:
- If you’re starting from Mumbai CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus), take a train to Cotton Green (9 minutes, Harbour Line) or Byculla (Central Line).
- From Mumbai Central, board a train to Lower Parel (6 minutes, Western Line).
- If you are at Dadar, a big junction, you may use the Central or Western Lines to reach Chinchpokli, Curry Road or Lower Parel. First-timers not used to the city can start their journey at Dadar.
By Bus
- Mumbai’s BEST buses are a cost-effective option. From Mumbai Central, take a bus to Sant Jagnade Chowk or Famous Studio (11-33 minutes, depending on traffic).
- Riding a bus from Mumbai CST to Sant Jagnade Chowk usually takes only 18 minutes.
- Key bus routes include A-19 (from A.H. Ansari Chowk) and 15 (from JJ Hospital). Check with the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) for updated schedules.
By Road (Car/Taxi/Auto-Rickshaw)
- For Mukh Darshan: Follow the route via Chhatrapati Shivaji Ground (Garam Khada) to T.B. Kadam Marg.
- The journey starts on Dinshaw Petit Lane – G.D. Ambedkar Marg – Dr. Vijay Walimbe Road in Parel Village and finishes at Guru Rani Chowk in Parel.
- Expect an easy drive from the Eastern Express Highway; on the other hand, it is hard to park at the pandal due to the big crowds.
- Dadar, Lower Parel and Chinchpokli are places where finding a taxi or auto-rickshaw is easy. Most of the time, there are holding times on the roads, but the evenings on the busiest days create the most delays.
From Specific Locations
- From Airoli (Navi Mumbai): Take a local train from Airoli (Trans-Harbour Line) to Cotton Green or switch at Kurla to the Central Line for Chinchpokli or Byculla. The journey takes about 45-60 minutes. Alternatively, book a taxi (30-45 minutes, depending on traffic).
- From Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA): Take a taxi or app-based cab (Ola/Uber) to Lalbaug (30-45 minutes, ~15 km). Alternatively, board a local train from Vile Parle or Andheri (Western Line) to Lower Parel or use the Harbour Line from Vile Parle to Cotton Green (45-60 minutes total).
